Manor House In Whitpain Township Open For Events

Have You Seen The Manor House Lately? 

Earlier this year, Whitpain Township approved a license agreement with Weddings By The Pond for the use of the Manor House at Prophecy Creek Park. The Manor House had fallen into disrepair and needed significant capital improvements.

The unique agreement with Weddings By The Pond, owned by Robert Fair Caterers, granted the company permission to use the Manor House for special events, such as weddings, meetings and receptions. As part of the agreement, the company would make the much-needed improvements to the Manor House. The Township will also ultimately receive an annual license fee from the use of the Manor House.

Weddings By The Pond has been hard at work at the Manor House since the agreement was signed. Suffice to say, this is not the former Manor House. The three pictures below only tell part of the story. Visit the Manor House to see the complete makeover. Tuesdays are Open House days or call 610-608-7405 to arrange a tour.

New National Terrorism Advisory System

National Terrorism Advisory System

The National Terrorism Advisory System, or NTAS, replaces the color-coded Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS). This new system will more effectively communicate information about terrorist threats by providing timely, detailed information to the public, government agencies, first responders, airports and other transportation hubs, and the private sector.

It recognizes that Americans all share responsibility for the nation’s security, and should always be aware of the heightened risk of terrorist attack in the United States and what they should do.

FEMA Modifies Flood Plain Maps In Springfield Township & Montgomery County

FEMA publishes Notice of Proposed Modification in Base Floodplain Elevation

Revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps to be adopted

On April 21 and 28, 2011, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published a Notice of Proposed Modification in Base Floodplain Elevation (BFE) for portions of Eastern Montgomery County, including Springfield Township.  The proposed BFE's will become the basis for floodplain management measures, including revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps, that must be adopted by Springfield Township in order to remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). 

The proposed BFE's may be appealed if received by FEMA or the local municipality within 90 days following the date of second publication of the Notice of Propsed Modification.  All appeals must include such scientific or technical data that negates or contradicts FEMA's findings.  The 90-day appeal period is statuatory and may not be extended.

Springfield Township property owners who wish to file an appeal may do so in written form only.  All appeals should be directed to the office of the Township Manager, 1510 Paper Mill Road, Wyndmoor, PA  19038.  Springfield Township will promptly forward all appeals to FEMA.
