National Take-Back Initiative

Safely dispose of your old medications

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

On April 30, 2011, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) will coordinate a collaborative effort with local and state law enforcement agencies to dispose of potentially dangerous medications. The national "Take-back day" will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.  Most medications found in pill form, liquid or cream will be accepted.  Syringes and illegal substances such as marijuana and methamphetamines will not be accepted.

Locally, the DEA has established take-back sites at the following locations:

  • Cheltenham Township Building, 8230 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027
  • Upper Dublin Township Building, 801 Loch Alsh Avenue, Fort Washington, PA 19034
