Cheltenham Township real estate

Cheltenham Township is home to a diverse community of 37,000 residents. Founded in 1682 by 15 quakers from Cheltenham, England, the town has only improved upon it’s rich history. Those early inhabitants would have been proud of Cheltenham’s comprehensive libraries, historic sights, renowned architecture, tree-lined streets, popular community events, recreational opportunities, amazing restaurants and endless shopping.

First on the stop of historic sights is the Curtis Hall Arboretum is a forty-five-acre safe-haven of hills, ponds, a dog park, over fifty types of trees and a small World War 2 memorial. Nestled inside is the famous Curtis Hall, where you can explore the gorgeous ornate ceiling above the ancient ballroom.

Another historic sight is the Beth Sholom Congregation, the only synagogue designed by the famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. The name means House of Peace, and peace is the exact feeling most people feel when entering this testament to art, architecture and religion.

There is also the Richard Wall House--the oldest house in Pennsylvania which has had continuous family residence and is listed int he National Register of Historical Places. It is now a beautiful museum.

Lastly, few members of a community are given the opportunity of seeing a massive castle on their way to work, which is the privilege you get in Cheltenham Township with the Grey Towers Castle. Built in 1893 by Horace Trumbauer and now also listed as a National Historic Landmark.

Besides a long history, Cheltenham also provides the more contemporary pleasures of good food and shopping. Cheltenham Mall has served both the Philadelphia and Montgomery County communities for over 30 years. Their abundance of stores include such mainstays as Home Depot, Target, Radio Shack, Burlington Coat Factory and Chili’s Bar & Grill. For fine dining, seek out Daffodil Restaurant and their hugely popular menu. Another town favorite is Zizzi Italian restaurant set inside of an old church.

As for educational opportunities, the community is served by Cheltenham Township School district, with seven public schools and a number of private schools. For higherlearning facilities, there is Arcadia University, Salus University, Westminster Theological Seminary, Gratzy College and Reconstructionist Rabbinal College.
